CookieBot Lives!

So, my wife’s boss has a daughter in the Girl Scouts, and her troop is entering a LEGO robot competition. Which is completely awesome. They needed a shirt, and asked if I’d do one for them.

It was a no-brainer. Who can say no to Girl Scouts? Who can say no to kids in a Robot competition? No to LEGOS? Right, I was hooked.

Cookie-Bot is the name of their Robot. The Team is called “The Terrific Trefoils”. Again, awesome.

I was told that the kids love the design, which is really what it was all about.

So, you know, awesome.

Ripple Effect

Ripple Effect is a charity that offers students at Washington State University the opportunity to make a difference in Africa. Several months ago, I redesigned their logo for them, through the micro volunteering site Sparked.

It was an interesting project, and I think the result was pretty good.

Thumbtack

I just joined a freelance directory site called thumbtack, under the listing Web Graphic Designer and Illustrator .

We’ll see what this does to my leads. Might be interesting.

Futzing Around This Morning

Angry Easter Bunny
I’m just messing around before getting to work today, and I knocked out a sorta surly Easter Bunny. I kind of want to go back in and add some more details to make him look like a serial killer. Maybe this afternoon.

Currently Working: All Star Comics

All Star Comics Website Working

My friends at All Star Comics are in need of a web presence, so this week, I’m putting the finishing touches on a website for them. I always enjoy working with these guys. They’re lots of fun.

When finished, it will have a blog, staff recommendations, a downloadable pull list for comics, and a bunch of other fun stuff.

...And We're Live!

Welcome folks to the new website for Holkan Design And Illustration, LLC. While we are still in the process of tidying things up around here, we feel things are much improved over our previous site. Previously, we utilized Drupal as our core CMS, which worked great for a few years. However, as powerful as Drupal is, it was also a little unwieldy for our purposes.

So, now we use Textpattern CMS , a lightweight, open source CMS that is flexible and fast to set up. So far, it’s been a real breeze. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to set up a site.

Take your time, look around, and keep your eyes peeled for news, articles, and more in this spot.

Thanks again, everyone!
